We make no secret of the fact that we favor open-source solutions. Why? Because they are, by far, the most cost effective option. Even so, there are times when proprietary solutions are the better choice - usually when your particular problem has already been solved by someone else. If a proprietary program is available that takes care of your problem, in the long run, that's the better way to go. Many factors can come in to play, but the bottom line is that the solution should suit the the needs of the user. That means taking into account your cost constraints, level of expertise, degree of difficulty of the problem, return on investment, and a host of other factors. Not every solution provider is eager to address all those issues, but we have the experience - and the confidence - to lay everything on the table when we propose a solution.
